algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all, for some time its been on my mind to check how Unity and Grasshopper can exchange geometry between each other. Finally this weekend I took some time to do it.
Check out the video and follow the link to get the files if you want to try it for yourself.

Wow, thats awesome. I don't have an immediate use for it right now, but it looks good! I have done some similar kind of data exchange between Grasshopper and vvvv.
Thanks for sharing!
Exciting stuff! I tried to do it (having no real experience with unity) but unfortunately got stuck half way.
It was fine going from unity to grasshopper, but I couldn't get the grasshopper animation back into unity. As shown below, grasshopper is sending it ok but I don't know how to access that information in unity...Do you have any tips for this? Do I have to somehow reimport it or should the script you made automatically do this?
Would appreciate any help at all!
Cheers,
Hi Dan, there is a script component for Unity in the example files that takes care of decoding the message back to into numbers and coordinates and recreates the boxes there. Did you active it? It is quite long since I did that example and don't remember all details by heart and I am not able to open it at the moment myself. I hope my answer helps. If t still doesn't work, share a screen shot of the properties of your objects in the unity scene.
best
Anton
Hi Anton,
Thanks for that! It is working now.
How might I get my own grasshopper geometries (other than boxes) back into unity?
I had a quick go experimenting with spheres but see that its dependent on that first geometry we make in unity...for example, could we start in rhino/grasshopper then import that into unity (instead of going unity to grasshopper and back to unity again)?
Many thanks,
Dan
Hi Dan,
how did you active the script component as Anton said? i also meet the same problem.
many thanks for your help!
Kaijie
I have this same question...would love to know the answer if anyone figured it out!
Hi all - unfortunately I did not get very far with this!
Dan
