How do jewelers add the gems when the prongs overlap them? Do they just bend them outwards a bit and also carve notches in them before bending them back? Or does the metal get mashed into the stones to make notches? I haven't found any good YouTube videos about this.
Quite a script! It is elegant how you can just design a 3D object and then apply two curves to a portion of it in 3D space, to get the stones.
Thank you, Nik. I'm just trying to make life easier. Frankly it's not that good side of that ring :) Normally the gems are not so big in this setting. I tested the algorithm to find some narrows and it needs to be fixed. Have some good ideas :)
