algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I have a 2d surface that I have created a surface grid on.
I then transformed those grid points with different factors in the z-direction.
So now I have a bunch of floating points above my 2d surface.
How can I make a curved 3-d surface through all of those points?
I normally would create contour curves un u or v direction and loft those but since the original shape is not a perfect rectangle, I am having problems controlling those u and v points. Is there anyway to just fit a surface through the points that I have selected in my screenshot?

There's a component under Translate >> Morph >> Spatial Deform
I've only used this once on a simple curve but there are some examples on this forum using it with a surface.
It might be a starting point...
Instead of creating a new surface through the points you would be morphing the existing surface based on the points you have moved but I don't know if you can use any points or whether they need to be control points from the original surface.
Other that Martyn's suggestions ... if the points are in some sort of U/V order that makes some sort of sense > see attached.
If they are a bit fuzzy > use Patch (good luck) or a ball pivot algo (but that yields a mesh although there's ways to make a nurbs out of it).
