Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Greetings all,

Many times when using Rhino/Grasshopper, I end up deleting curves by accident or through one way or another, and so am left with surfaces that have no curve.

Is there a way to create a curve from a surface in grasshopper? I want to loft some surfaces but do not have any curves..

Peace,

J

Both the Explode(BRep Components) and Brep Wireframe would extract the edge from a surface, it that is what you wanted.
You mean you delete curves in Rhino which you have referenced in GH? If you delete those, there is no way your following geometry will survive in GH! You have to be careful about it. I, for example, maintain a tree of layers in Rhino which is named something like "BASE_GEOM" or "DO_NOT_DELETE" and lock the layers after referencing them in GH. If I still need to use them in Rhino, I usually make copies and keep the original objects locked.

Another approach would be to try and not reference any geometry at all and do everything from scratch in GH starting from, say, a point or a line. Then your GH definition would be able to stand independently and everytime you need a particular geometry for use in Rhino, you would just bake it.
@Mattias - Thanks, I'll try those commands out and see where it gets me :]

@Sameer - Cheers for the tips on workflow, I think I'll deffo use a DO_NOT_DELETE layer from now on in Rhino to try and avoid any future complications like this!
