algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there, can anyone please give me some tips on how best to divide a curve with variable distances based on the radius of the curves in question please?

attached is the 3dm and gh file - we would like to have less curve joins (divisions) there were the curve becomes too acute in angel and more curves on the straight spans.

thanks, kind regards, eve

Maybe this is of help. In this definition the curve is divided in different lengths, but not based on any other parameter. You can add your own here.

Keep in mind that the domain of a curve is NOT its length. Im still confused at to what is the domain of a curve. I thought in rhino 5 the domain of a curve was always from 0 to 1. But sometimes its domain is the same it had in rhino 4 which was:

for linear curves, e.i. polylines, the length of the curve (polyline)

for splines, the lenght of the (straight) polyline that joins the control points.

If an operation (scaling for example) is applied on the (original) curve, the domain is still the domain of the firstly created curve.

If someone knows better please do clarify.

Thanks! yes, it does help - at least as a departure point for greater flexibility.

i am still in learning, so i would presume that the domain parameter is the best way to find the co-ordinates along the curve (based on what you said about 'length').

i still have a feeling however that this definition could be condensed into something simpler in Grasshopper though ö_Ö could this be?

sincere regards
