Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone.  I've got one point which connects to 472 other points.  The solo point has the ability to move freely based on sliders.  What i'm looking to do is connect the solo point to the closest 20% of other points...  The point count changes based on which index i choose and what layers i have on, so it is important to do it based on a percentage.  I think i'm 90% there but i just can't make it happen.  Ive tried floating point sliders and integer sliders in the B input of the smaller button but no luck.  All of my moves are explicit in the image, no variables have been set within the components.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Evan

Hi Evan,

You could use the synchronous sort and then the sub set component to get the closest 20%.

Note that the down arrows are Flatten in v0.7
BRILLIANT! Thank you Danny.

Thanks... i used this to make a definition to find a subset of curves based on z-value.

Thanks for that reply Rodney, it helped me work out how to cull points from the ends of these catenarys. Which I'll use to help design bridling for kites, which are going to make massive amounts of power hopefully.
