Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I started learning grasshopper on my own, and it's been a while since i've done any math.

I am trying to create a very simple definition that will arrange bricks on a surface. I have a very simple UV surface, which i divided to create points. Then i used cull to create a running bond pattern.

The idea was to create a vector between points in one row, and to use this vector to create the brick later on.

The problem is that i cant explain to grasshopper that i have groups of points that are divided rows, and not one continuous list.

In order for my definition to work, i have to cull one list of lines, in an irregular patern. ATM i have manually written a list in the cull pattern parameter. But i would like to make this list dependent on a variable.

I forgot to mention,

It did occur to me to use a function, where i would eliminate the longer lines. Since in this case, the line that connects the points at the far ends of the surface is much longer than the ones that are segments of the same surface. This wouldn't work if i were to wrap the surface around (like a cylnder) then these could get the same length as the others (then again, this probably isnt the only thing that would go wrong in such a case :))
