Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

a bit new to grasshopper

- i'm trying to take each of the faces of a cube and distort it using image sampler/move, but i want to resulting object to be a closed shape (ie the edges of each surface need to remain connected to one-another). what the resulting shape looks like isn't as important to me as the above rule. any ideas of what translation algorithms might get me this result?

thanks!

I assume you want to distort many cubes, not just a single cube. Or are you trying to displace the surface of the cube with an image?

Changing the height of a field of cubes per the image sampler is pretty straight forward.

You'll get much better help if you provide images, sketches, your attempt at the definition and/or a rhino file.

i'm actually trying to distort individual surfaces of a single cube.

to be more specific, i'm trying to reverse engineer the image sampler somewhat. i want to be able to create a specific closed shape (for example, a table) from a box or sphere with the use of an image, and then distort that image in order to distort the object. and i'm thinking that i would like the object to stay closed after the distortion.

(is that helpful? i can try to be more clear)

just realized that i don't have the files on me, but i'll be sure to upload tomorrow.

my file's a little crazy at this point - but basically i need to make sure the resulting shape is closed. not as important that the distortions are the same as i did here.
