algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi guys,

Im still getting the hang of grasshopper but i wonder if someone could point me in the right direction. I have a map of a site im currently working on, however the only contour information I can get hold of are at 5 meter intervals. I was wandering if there was a way of taking one of the inside contours and offsetting that to meet the next outer line of the contour.

For example if I had a circle within a square. I want to offset the circle eight times. But with each offset the circle begins to become slightly more square. Does this make sense? I was wondering if there is perhaps a tutorial or a simple way to do this, or even a technical term that i can search through the forum for. Many thanks!

Hi daneng, one way to do this:

-move the curves up to their right z location

-make a surface or a mesh out of the curves; there are several ways to do this based on how your curves are, you can try "patch" component.

-use "contour" component on the surface with "z" as direction to get as many curves as you like

-project the curves back to xy plane

You can try using Tween curves, but sorting and matching the curves may be problematic.

Thankyou David I've not heard of tween curves before, I'll have a look into it.
