Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey everyone,

I have a roadmap as a set of lines that are all interconnected but not always continuous.

I am trying to set up a script that will turn these lines into a continuous plane that can then be extruded.

When manually modeling this in the past. I would offset lines to both sides, trim out the overlaps, fillet the intersections of the offset lines, and get nice 3d roads with intersections filleted.

Attached is an image showing the manual process I have underwent to achieve the results I want. So maybe there's a way to do the same in GH?

It's really the conversion of lines to a single surface with filleted intersections that I can't wrap my head around. -It gets tough when you have a "T" or "X" intersection and its not one continuous curve, but rather 2 intersecting curves.

For all I know there's already a script out there to do this but I've been unable to find it.

Thanks ahead of time for your time and help!

-Andrew

Can you upload a sample of your input data?

Hard to do something without stuff to work on.

Help helpers help you.

:D

Sorry about that, Ill attach the file momentarily. Thanks!

Attached are the files I am using to set this up.

Rhino file has the geometries I am looking for manually modelled

GH file has the script that shows how far I got setting it up

OSM file needs to be plugged into the script to generate result.

I am also using the ELK GH plugin in this script. Here it is
