Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all!

I'm a newbie here so I'd appreciate all the help I can great.

So I've mapped this pattern to a curved surface and was wondering if there is any way to make each individual cell planar. I've tried projecting the polylines to a tangential surface at the midpoint of each cell, but I'm having trouble with finding the tangent of a surface at a point.

Many thanks in advance!

Hi, you just need to find out the midpoints UVs with surface CP, then you can use evaluate surface to get the required frames.

hmm still can't seem to figure out how to find midpoint UVs with surface CP. i'm starting to think i've bitten off more than i can chew here!

sorry, im busy with some other stuff until tomorrow, but just out of curiosity, why do you want the curves to be planar?

that's okay, thanks anyway! i've actually figured out another way to do this by creating grids on the curve instead then joining the points etc etc.

i need the panels to be planar so that it can be fabricated :)

hey this is great stuff but my main issue was how to make the shapes follow a curved surface. Thanks heaps for your help anyway! :) i've just figured out another way to achieve this.
