algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I need to create a volume that fits exactly between the 2 other volume I have, but I can't seem to manage it. I tried using boolen/mesh difference and trim solid to do this, but nothing happened, probably because the volume doesn't fit as it should.

Any idea on how I can go about doing this?

Also, not really sure how posting on here goes, as I had another thread about this same volume but for a different problem. Hope it's okay to add another discussion in such a short time :/

Are you trying to create the volume so you can do a boolean difference and get the top contoured surface of the foam blocks?

I think so. I'm basically trying to get the blocks used on the bridge, this ones:

I tried boolean difference, but since the bridge and a basic countour i extruded don't seem to fit, I can't get the volume. The idea is to do a 3 layered 3d printed model of the bridge.

I had to modify your basic contoured surface to get a watertight solid.  I scaled it a little bit in the x and y directions and then trimmed it with a vertical extrusion using the original outline curve.  Then I used the new contoured surface to trim the previously used vertical extrusion of the outline curve.  I also split and capped the columns at the waterline.  This gave me all the surfaces that I needed to create a 'funnel' like poylsurface which had a planar top curve which I could then cap properly to get a closed watertight poylsurface.  I believe that your original surface had too many funky things going on near the corners which weren't allowing it to seal tightly.  It's almost always easier and more reliable to build up a solid from clean surface trims rather than building it from curves and doing joins.

The files.

Thanks a lot! I kind of suspected that the model had problems, just didn't think it had so many of them haha. Will try this out!
