Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello grasshopper community,

I'm trying to create a grasshopper component in visual studio. I use Visual Studio community 2017. The problem is that I can't use "Grasshopper Assembly for v5" because it's not compatible with "VS 2017".

Do you know how I can resolve this problem ?

Then I'm a beginner, so someone can advise me some good tutorials which works with Visual Studio 2017 ?

Thanks a lot in advence.

The VS 2017 template for Rhino 6 also works for rhino 5, you can get it here: https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/items?itemName=McNeel.Grasshop...

thank you very much ! it work now !

Visual Studio tutorials (+example files) for rhino grasshopper, rhino-common from C# workshop:

hi it does not see the grasshopper.dll or rhino.exe to have it as a references when i start the project

Your probably see rhinocommon.dll where are all the main functions of rhino.

And you can reference yourself grasshopper.dll.

Hi Anas,
at the visual studio Solution Explorer, right click on References -> Add reference ->Browse.
Then go to Grasshopper.dll :

It is here on my machine,
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\McNeel\Rhinoceros\5.0\Plug-ins\Grasshopper (b45a29b1-4343-4035-989e-044e8580d9cf)\0.9.75.0"

Select Grasshopper.dll -> open.

You don't have to start the project, just build it and goto :
C:\Users\UserName\Documents\Visual Studio 2017\Projects\YourProjectName\YourProjectName\bin
you will find a component there, copy it to Grasshopper Canvas.

That's all

Best wishes my friend.

thank you mahmoud
