Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

creat random surfaces with specific rules (operators) to follow

Hello,

i started with grasshopper last semester, and i have problems to understand the way. so i am absolut beginner and i hope you can help me figure it out.

i don’t know how to start, with which way and components…

what i want to do:

Create different volume surfaces with specific operators. i made a sketch from side view.

h1 is variabel between 11.5 to 30mm

ø1 is variabel between 30 to 34mm

ø2 is fix at 14mm

the shape does not have “undercut” so like the way i draw the three different lines.

also the different shapes should follow some rule, that there is a difference where i can see.

i started to creat some operators to fix it, but i do not know whats now or is there a better easier way to do what i want?

please ask if i need to explain more!

I hope there is anyone who can help me. Thank you.

Hello Davide,

If I get it right, you want to create a surface by revolving a curve and your only variables at the moment are the 2 endpoints of the curve.

But, as you can understand, you will need something more than just 2 points in order to define a curve (unless, of course, it's a line).

So, if you don't have anything else in mind, I would suggest going with a simple bezier curve. It just needs 2 points and two vectors to be defined, so you could do something like this:

you can use the 2 MDSliders to define the vectors (double-click on them if you want to change their boundaries).

If, on the other hand, I have misunderstood your question, then please provide some more information.

Cheers,

Nikos

that looks in the direction i want. yes i know there are less variables. i thought i can create some specific operators or rules, which supports the two points. so that i get variable lines, not just curves. its more like a experiment two find completely different forms. and i just have the rules where i wrote. the rest is open. maybe i have a fail in my thoughts.

But your way is a nice start and i think i can work with it :) thank you!
