Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

David,

Some time ago I enquired about a method for controlling the order of components as they sit in the component tray of a category and sub category. I am sure that you're busy and this is a low priority but did you end up adding a method for this?

It would be great to be able to control the ordering of groups and then the ordering of component positions in groups if possible.

As an example it would be great to call the base function in this type of way.

public component() : base(Name, Nickname, Description, Category_name,Category_index, Subcategory_name,Subcategory_index,Component_index)

The ordering of each variable could change to suit your end but expressing the extra variables would be helpful.

The Component_index could relate to the location of the component in the sub category tray. If an index is skipped it would ideally leave a blank space so that a tray could be formatted with blanks in the layout if desired - blanks could be useful for formatting purposes.

I did not change the way components are ordered, and I probably won't for GH1 as we're in feature lockdown (only serious bugfixes). I'm not sure yet how to solve this, whether to use sorting indices or order instructions (i.e. This panel has to appear to the right of that panel, which would make it easier to insert stuff at the bottom of the stack later).

David,

This is appreciated.  I hope that you will find a way to include this in v2. Not to pepper you but if you are willing to entertain requests for interface improvements the only other request I would propose would be to have SVG graphics enabled for the icons. Everything else is great!
