[COMPILATION] Most challenging problems seen in the forum

Hi!,

I've been checking some old post that I bookmarked some time ago to study carefully cause I thought that are challenging problems or they offer lot of research opportunities (to solve in free time or to implement solutions for projects in which I could be involve).

This post is meant to create a user made compilation of these topics. Every science field has his own unresolved problem list that teams and people around the world try to solve. Why not to make the same with grasshopper and geometric and/or functional problems or algorithms? Making and easily track-able list could improve the user participation.

What is the most interesting and challenging unsolved (or partially solve) problem that you remember here in the forum?

Cheers,

Ángel.

My first proposal:

  1. K-means implementation over panels (flat or not) or linear elements in geometric structures.
    1. a. Geometric uniqueness.
    2. b. Edge sharing restraints.
  2. ...

Is this our own Millennium Prize Problems? Who's putting up the prize money!

Hehehehe, yeahhh!!! More or less...this is just a compilation, to solve them or not is up to you (us)...I've always though that this forum is an amazing and not properly organized (or perhaps just selforganized) thinktank...this post just try to put some order in the most interesting questions dropped here...

Instead of solving the most complicated problems, how about a prize for solving an understandable problem in the cleanest, clearest way possible?

That's what Coffee + Grasshopper was all about except the pool of people posting problems diminished faster than the amount joining the group. Which doesn't make sense.

Somehow less people posted problems and the problems got bigger. One coffee is more than enough for me, so...

It's a nice idea but that is not about a compilation but a way to motivate people find better solutions for generic problems. Anyway your proposal could lead to another nice post series or group :) As Danny said, we had coffee+gh, but for some reason it didn't worked for a long time :(

Anyway is not as much as solving them but tracking them.

People probably wouldn't read that anyway, but how about "Problems that were solved long ago but come up twice a week".

That's another interesting proposal :)
