Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey

I am making a flexiable silicon surface, pulled be wires. I have made a mechanicel princip for a section of it, but now i need to multiply it to 50 or something and each of this is going to be based on the one before.

The problem is this, that to take all the links and attach it to the right command, takes alot of time. So is their a way to combind one princip in to one commandbox, where i can decide which imput i want to adjust and which imput i want to recive, so i dont have to drag a 1000 link to a 1000 boxes?

GH is good at handling different objects through the same series of components and getting different outcomes on the other side. If you manage your definition in the right way, getting the data structures right then you might not need to copy the same thing over and over, and manually plug in 1000s of wires

Are you able to post the GHX file, I could have a look and see what exactly your needs are.

Also it might be worth having a look at Daniel Piker's Kangaroo plug-in which handles relaxed surfaces based on Physical principles.
Nice, ill upload the file. It is not the super easiest grasshopper file to get an overview of, but each of the cluster of command boxes, would i like to make into a group or a more simple way to mulitpy it, so that i can create a longer adjustable curve.

Ill look into the Kangaroo plug in, it might be what i am looking for.

thx, alot for the replay

Sorry I don't think I'm going to be much help here, because your method involves building upon the geometry you create along the way. GH cannot handle recursion like this in a simple way.
Ok, but thx for the help. I have been looked into Kangaroo, and it seems nice but dont think i can get it to fit in in the work i am doing.
