algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Everybody
So I am trying to add colour to the surfaces of louvres on a facade. The idea is that the surfaces facing outwards would be painted green and the surfaces on the interior would be painted a different colour. The problem is that the surfaces which are initially external eventually get turned to face outwards because of the tilting louvres. (please see images attached)
I thought maybe a solution is to project colour onto the exterior?
Does anybody have suggestions or solutions to the this problem?
Regards
Frederich

I've looked at your definition and I don't see that any of them start to show the reverse side.
Even so the whole premise doesn't make sense for the louvers to change colour how would you achieve this in reality?
having said that I would probably approach this by Deconstructing the Breps that are your louvers and distinguishing which are the panels to alter colour on and then measure the Normal Vector against the direction of viewing.
Hi Danny thanks for the quick response.
Yes, in my script I have only turned the louvres 90 deg, but this would not be the case if they turned 180 or 360 degrees.
Ive attached an image of a louvre, (although not rotating), but with multiple sides, getting a specific colour to only show on the specific side is what I am trying to achieve.
But thank you, I will try try playing with the Normal vector of the Breps, I think that should solve my problem.
Hi Tom,
Thank you so much for your help, this is exactly what I was trying to achieve!
Cheers
Fred
