"closest point to brep" shows more than one point on multiple brep

Hey guys,

i want to create holes in a brep i reached it on a simple brep how you can see in the next picture

I want to be able to change the position of the hole by drag and drop the point in rhino. It works so far on the simple sample.

But if i search for the closest point of this brep :

It shows me more than one point I think he shows me the closest point of each several part of the multiple brep. But i only need the real closest point to the whole brep most time it is the vertically point. So i tried some things to get the point I am looking for, but it didnt work. i tried this:

1. create lines between the original point and the closest points

2. measure the length of this lines

3. sort them by their length (because the shortest would be the closest point)

4. choose always the first point of the list, this should be the closest one

This is just an idea there are certain easier ways. I hope you can help me

I guess this is how you did it? shorter mhh? I do not know, let me think?

A single Brep only ever has a single closest point. The function in Rhino simply does not allow for multiple answers. Your 'single brep' must not be a single brep.

Hey David,

yes you are right, I have set multiple breps for my example as well.

I thought he meant this.

Do see any shorter version to find this point? for Multiple Breps?

[Pull Point] in the Vector.Point panel. It does exactly what you need and it works on breps, meshes, curves, points and a mixed collection of the above.

I hope you understand the differents.

some rules to follow:

for join brep only use exatly the surface you need - closed breps you do not get with faces some how in between

the param viewer shows you how your diffferent inputs do look like (they should be (often)  better the same -to avoid mistakes) use the pathmapper-flatten-graft therefore (for example)

exatctly input and output managament is all you need

ohhhh i love ya :) thx for improving the program maaaany thanks

can i rent you for a month to show me everything xD

sry for the rookie mistakes but iam very new to all this 3d graphics, I began to work with grasshopper around 2 weeks ago but I really like this program. Its great to automate things :)

Maybe there will be a german version in the future too ;) not easy to understand it in englisch at first. specially this flatten and graft functions, i have to make it clear to myself seems to be important ``

many thanks again :P great discussion forum helps me alot really!
