Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I'm looking for a grasshopper definition to make circles be tangent to a curve. The circles shoud not overlap the curve nor eachother and depend on the curve control-points.

Below is an example how it should look like. I prepared it manually in Rhino.

Thanks for your answer Systemiq :), I'll try to look into this again tomorrow.

hi everyone, I finally got to work on the incircles approach again, and here it is. Like the other definitions it is not perfect, I hope someone can help me find the mistakes in my definition... :)

Using the average curvature vector on some points (3 here) around the location seems to solve the bug.

Nice concept too.

Thanks for looking into this Systemiq, and for the kind remark:)
However it doesn't work here. I also gave it a try with 5 and 7 points, still some circles are on the opposite side of the curve.. I'll keep searching, I will let you know if/when I find it.

wow,
this is very clever! how did you come up with the idea to use V.?

I used it in a similar way there, but why did I think about it ? Mmmh probably because tesselations were mathematical objects for partitioning space before being fancy architects toys.

The circles needed space partitioning around some defined points, so Voronoi came naturally to mind.
