circle packing with grasshopper ONLY?

Hi Preston,

If you are talking about circle packing in the sense of covering some arbitrary shape with non-overlapping circles, this is the kind of problem that is most naturally tackled iteratively, since the position of each circle depends on those already placed. Therefore, not using any scripts or plugins will be rather limiting because of Grasshopper's acyclic nature.

If it is more regular patterns you are after though, you could look at inversion.
