Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I wanted to use this function 0=a*sin(pi*n*x)*sin(pi*m*y)+b*sin(pi*m*x)*sin(pi*n*y) in my designs but got stuck at the very beginning. This site represents well what I'm trying to achieve: https://www.desmos.com/calculator/rdpbran7og.

So far I have come to this point and just couldn't find any help on the forums.
Any guidance would be much appreciated!

Kind regards.

It is not an explicit function y= f(x)
it is an implicit function you have to evaluate the function without the 0 on a grid of points and then trace Isocontour with value=0
You could use that

...

Thank you very much for the suggestion! With your assistance I managed to achieve almost exactly what I was after. I attach grasshopper file for anybody looking for similar formula.

Kind regards,
Michael.

You are welcome.

Here a solution with curve from Brep so without Millipede, but it is also possible to cut a mesh.

With a brep/surface curves will not be polylines. With mesh they will be polylines.

The same script with also a mesh. A lot faster.

Thank you for the additional approach - I have learned a great deal from it!

Kind regards,

Michael.
