Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, everyone!

I just began to learn grasshopper from following this tutorial for making waffle structure - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ESNO6RSRN5I

I want to make waffle structure out of sphere. Although, I can't extrude surfaces out of lines properly. I have got just polylines instead of surfaces.

Where could be a problem?

Hello

you definition is ok. if you look the extrude output, wit a panel or hovering your mouse over the output, you will see that you have surfaces like you want. you just have to select the shaded preview, because you have the wireframe preview whic makes the surfaces look like polylines.

Thanks! that's true. I thought that something wrong with it because I can't make PlanarSrf out of sections. Looks like this command doesn't exist in new GH. Do you have an idea what should I use instead of PlanarSrf?

So it looks like this now -

planar surface component is now called boundary surfaces, like the one you are using.

it works, thanks!

Now I am trying to change the tutorial parameters and to extrude sections for half of the sphere height the at one axis and full height sections at the another axis. Although I managed to regulate only height of planars. How to extrude section for the half of sphere height?

hello

please check the file. i am not sure what you are after. i tried something that might be what you want. i also made a group with the things you have in your definition that don't make sense to me. i believe you must study data matching and list-data tress management. they seem a bit difficult in the beginning but when you are familiar with them you can work with grasshopper without problem.

cheers

You've sent just my first file that I attached  within the first message. There are no changes there.

thank you! this is exactly what I tried to make.
The part of things that you've placed in the group are things to make material thickness and notches. They explane it in the tutorial
