algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone:
Im trying to get a form finding solution to work as I think it would do (not necesary the same as it would actually do, of course)
I need to ad a cable like behaviuor at the edges of a fabric, as form finding works as the fabric were elastic the edges bend towars the center much more than expected as there is no border limitation (you can imagine a sail as an example of this, if you try to represent a sail to be accurate you have to ad a cable at the free side of the sail -called "baluma" i think.
I've tryed adding a new instance of springs force component in kangaroo but it doesnt work together with the main string used for shiftness of membrane.
I've also tryed with anchor springs component for interpolated point between main anchor points, but still no luck- not accepted both by kangaroo's main module.
maybe I'm missing something as old newbbie as I am.
any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance
Ale

I think you should make line segments from naked edge points, turn them into line springs and give them a different stiffness. Try, is ist working.
Thanks for your answer, yes, it should work, my problem was before kangaroo... i'm trying to simplify definition and geometry to input kangaroo
Hi Alejandro, would you mind sending me your grasshopper definition for the first version of this that was 'too loose'. My definition is currently too rigid and I am opting for a more flexible material effect
ok I'll search that version of the definition and send it to you...
Hi Alejandro,
I am also really into the idea of using kangaroo for simulating sail behaviour, discovering viable panel forms, outputting for FEA etc...
Do you have any worked examples you could post or email?
Currently trying to work out how to analyse forces in mesh kites with millipede ... but I must get back to form finding and shape deformation in kangaroo soon.
