dear danny,

thanks for your support!
one question more for this topic.
is there any similar function, mesh comp.
in grasshopper like maya's crease tool?

1. create poly cube

2. select crease tool

3. select the edges that you want have crease.

4. subdivdisplay in maya

5.now you can use crease tool. use full, half..

I dont quite know what you want to get with the loop subdivision component, perhaps a blur mesh or laplacian smoothing would work as good, and they dont create folds.

Here is the same definition, remade with meshes.

Creases are formed at naked edges.

dear giulio,

thank you very much for your answer!

this is very helpful for me and i need to test it now...

p.s. thanks to danny.

das ist sehr hilfreich. ich muss das erstmal testen

dear systemik,

sounds interesting, can you walk a few steps further?

thanks

I dont know much about meshing, just toying with WeaverBird's tools.

Giulio is the expert, so his definition is surely the best answer to your problem.

Though, you perhaps can ask yourself if creating an object, then meshing and smoothing the mesh is what your want.

You also have the option to think a bit more about your object, and trying to make it 'round' from the beginning. By example by creating more loft profiles and lofting all of them instead of separately.

It might be nice to be able to mesh the brep just with one brep face -> one mesh face. This is obviously not always possible (as with a cylinder) but it would make the previous workflow directly usable, even though in a way that is slightly more computationally expensive.

dear giulio,

now i had the time to test your definition.
i know now how it works and could solve my problem.
very helpful and thanks again!

PS. and many thanks to systemik and danny
