algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi,
I am doing a sweep on a closed curve using a rectangle as profile.
The result is called a untrimmed srf, but it should be a closed polysurface (which it is, if you bake it to rhino).
Can you reproduce this?
Best,
Phillip

If you rebuild the rail, its now called "periodic" (just "closed" before) and the result is empty without a runtimemessage.
Hi Phillip,
I suspect the Sweep component creates a surface with multiple interior knots. Basically, it's a very bad way to create Nurbs surfaces with kinks in them. When you add these objects to Rhino it will automatically get repaired.
I wrote a small VB script component that performs this step, and it indeed seems to give you closed Breps in return. I'll see about fixing Sweep for the next release.

Thanks, David. Just noticed that Sweep, not only produced this strange result, but also droped some items on the way. So I think I will rather go for some work around here to be safe.
As i see it, the problem here is also the Curve being periodic.
(If i use subcurves it also keeps all items.)
As far as I rememeber, I had some problems with lofting or revolving periodic curves sometime before.
Thanks.
Best,
Phillip
