algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I work with Clusters a lot and since most of the time everything is in one main cluster, so the parent is just for the UI Elements, I have to jump between cluster and parent quite a lot. To be able to keep Undo history I use the "Return to parent" functionality. But then if I somehow forget to just change window at the top right, I might double-click the cluster again to open it.
But now the trouble starts, because you have the same cluster open twice and usually I realised some time later. If I mix things up I will in most cases end up discarding the last changes because I can never get it right which one I should or should not save when closing, because it is not immediately obvious which one the more recent one is.
Surely though, a cluster only needs to be able to be open once, so when I double-click a cluster it should just jump to the already open window.
Additionally of course I would prefer if you can have the Parent and any clusters open at the same time in floating windows. Or even better, allow embedding of seperate files as clusters and not the kind of internalised clusters like now. That way you could work on the parent and a cluster at the same time - I am aware that this is the kind of thing where you need to know what you are doing or otherwise it might get confusing quickly, but it would be a great power feature. Sorry to keep banging on about vvvv, but they solve it rather nicely there, where each cluster is actually a file.

Does anyone have a solution for this? David? Wouldn't this make sense and be quite easy to implement. Just lost a large amount of work again, because of this.
Its just impossible to get right, which one should be discarded and which one should be closed once they are different.
There is absolutely 0 reason for the same cluster to be opened multiple times and obviously GH was never designed for it, but by design it CAN happen quite easily.
Yeah I think this qualifies as a serious enough bug to be fixed for GH1. I'll see what I can do.
Though unless you're using GH in Rhino Wip or Rhino Mac, you'll never see any fixes.
Thanks David.
Just giving the Rhino for Mac WIP a spin, although I guess it will take a while to be in there.
Ok, apparently I won't give it a spin. The latest Rhino WIP wont let me run it as a trial as it states. Always asks for a license!? So is Rhino for Mac WIP only if you buy a license?
UPDATE: Ok, it works with the key from the Rhino for Mac 5.1 Version
