Branch shifting to run x branch against x+1 branch

Branch shifting to run x branch against x+1 branch, trying to find curves that don't overlap from series of branches which have planar closed curves grouped in each plane. 
Was trying to copy what others have done before it seemed like I have shifted the branch, but once plugging it in to find points of x branch vs the curves of x+1 the shifted branch gives unshifted value? Bonus points if we could run each branch of curves vs xN+1 branches N=number of branches so I could set like N=4  it would check if the curve is not hitting any points in 4 branches above it.
