algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey All,

I'm experimenting with Grasshopper and I have a few questions regarding a definition I want to create.  Above I've creating some diagrams to show what I'm trying to do.

1. Is there a simple way to create a bounding volume (not just a box) and create objects that stay within that volume?

2. What components would be most useful in trying to achieve the variations illustrated above?  My intention in the future is to use Galapagos / other plugins to evaluate numerous options.  It seems that I could use a non-uniform scalar component but if I want my form to adhear to the boundary volume, scalar components might deform the irregular portions of the volume oddly.

Its very simple if you think of it this way, rather than inserting volumes into the constraint volume, consider them as a subdivision(s) of the constraint volume. 

Awesome idea, subdivisions definitely make more sense to me.  Any tips on how I would go about subdividing a closed volume like that?  Would it make it easier if the volume wasn't capped at each end?

closed volumes cut well with planes, take a look at the intersect tab, also there are some useful contour components you may be interested in. 

Ok so here is my first try at a definition to do what I was seeking above.  I am trimming the original surface using subdivided planes.  At the moment however I am only moving the plane from the front of the surface to the back, from the bottom up, and from left to right.  I want the trimming planes to come from both directions, but how can I make sure that they are not intersecting/overlapping each other?  Sound off below!
