boundary region of mulitiple curves

Hello! I just encounter a seemingly easy question, which is retrieving the exterior curves from a series of building blocks that need to be reorganize, but I don't have any idea, so could someone gives me a hand?

EDIT: Hyungsoo's solution is neater, you should use that one.

The curves are really quite messy (several duplicates and closed curves going back on themselves) so I had to take a sledgehammer approach.

If there's any way you can clean up the input (explode and SelDup in Rhino maybe?) you'll be able to come up with a faster approach.

Thank you Hyungsoo and David, both solutions work well, and the reason why I want to extend and trim is that some curves don't connect to other edges, but I solve it by using Line/Line intersection to do this trick, thank you all again !
