For God's sake, please give it up. Fear it no less than the sensual passion, because it, too, may take up all your time and deprive you of your health, peace of mind and happiness in life.

Wolfgang Bolyai urging his son János Bolyai to give up work on hyperbolic geometry.

But if you must know the best way to generate this type of geometry is Crochet solution for crocheting the hyperbolic plane: http://www.math.cornell.edu/~dwh/papers/crochet/crochet.html

hi, Danny, thanks!

what i what to ask is what's the best software to generate this type of graphic representation.

sorry for the confusion caused.

I was half joking really, but it's fascinating stuff.

ha ha, you got me, anyway, thanks for the information!

I guess we can get a nice graphic like this using illustrator to edit eps file exported from autocad

any other heads-up is welcome!

I'd use Rhino for the 3D stuff, then XaraX to assign linetypes and fills. Here are some very old images I made with (mostly) that technique. There's also a little bit of Penguin Rendering in there.
