Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi

Can someone please help with explaining how to be able to control in Grasshopper bending a given line with given length into an arc that will keep the same original line length?

i.e bending a piece of would plate into it's maximum curvature.

Thanks!

Do you mean a spline or a radial arc?  I don't have an answer for GH, but in Rhino the command is "FixedLengthCrvEdit" -  this will work for editing splines at fixed length, but not for radial arcs.  I look forward to the response from the forum to this question.

Thanks Mark for your reply.

Actually my interest was to do this in GH, because I wanted to control the curvature parametrically. I attached some screenshots of just a basic definition I made which show three points (start, end and a centre point) with a '3point curve' connecting them where moving end points towards each other using the slider changing the x-coordinate values for end points and y-coordinate value for centre point simultaneously cause the flat curve to bend into curvaturee; as if you are pushing by your hands two ends of a piece of wooden strip into eachother so to bend it into an arc, the more you apply pressure the more the beding curvature is, and I wanted to control the amount of pressure in GH by the sliders you see in the screenshots attached, you can see that this definition is not working properly because the arc length shown and the far right end keeps on changing which is wrong! my difintion might be basic and not the best approach but just to give an idea of what I am looking for.

Hope all this makes sense.

Rony.

On this blog, everything deals with bending in one way or another:
