Basics: rectangle inscribed into an irregular polygon

Hi,

i'm a very begginer. Need to solve this problem: i'm going to inscribe a square into an irregular given curve. The square should have as largest area as possibile and shall be directed along xy axes. That means that at least two points belonging to square shall touch given curve.

Has anyone ideas how to solve it? I would be very thankful.

Not too basic problem.
Did you find a solution ? Have you tried Galapagos to solve the problem?
