based on the sun direction

Obviously the balconies cast shadows against the building based on the azimuth of the sun between summer and winter as well as geographical location on the planet.

It appears in the pic. that the balconies cantilever a lot more where there is more shadow. Do you want the balconies to change physically in relationship to the shadows they cast ????

Luckily I can't solve your problem.

But if I had made the bad decision to buy a unit with such an idiotic scheme in such a Highrise. I would sue the Architect, Contractor, Subcontractors, Designers, including Municipalities, Building Department staff responsible for licensing, etc etc. For injuries caused to me while sleeping on my balcony while it proceeded to shrink away, unbeknownst to me. Let me know if anyone is stupid enough to process  a building permit for such a venture. I'm looking for a class action lawsuit in the future! :)
