Baking to Layers

Hi, i was wondering if anyone has a simple way to be able to bake objects to specific layers.....

similar to the custom preview, but to be able to assign a layer and colour when baked.

i'm using rhino sr8 and GH 8

I guess can't be easier than it's now...

Just create the layer(s) in Rhino, and activate (make current) the layer you want to bake the selected component into, colour is the same thing, just change it from Rhino layers menu...

very true....but i meant automatically, from an atribute that could be assigned within grasshopper.....rather than baking stuff individually onto the correct layer, it could all be done in one go when you bake a whole load of stuff....would make things a bit easier when using geometry from grasshopper, adding materials and rendering, exporting to other packages, using a level structure that has already been setup and you are just amending......

but i´m not getting it started with gh 0.8 in rhino 5.
there is no data at the output ...

The c# script component in the definition posted by °[u is fantastic...it allows you to bake with all kinds of attributes...object name, color, layer, etc. It's fantastic.

Hey Christian,

The script is from the discussion David posted (http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/bake-color-gradient?comme...), it's from °[u. Also there are other ones on this site concerning baking with color. Check this one:

Only those are already a bit 'old' so they might not work with grasshopper 8. The one i posted (from °[u) should work with grasshopper 8.

Hi Arie,

You gave us a script to bake to layers with attributes.....wondering if you had updated to later version.....i'm on 8.51..and i get errors with it now....

or do you know of another script someone else has done????

Hey Matt, unfortunatley I haven´t. The script is originally from °[u. Maybe ask her? My c# is a bit rusty, I haven't dealt with that in a while. Else ask guilio for help, he also knows a lot about this issue and c#.
