algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi,
I'm quite desperate with my groups ^^
I want to move some incoming grouped geometry (lines, breps later, all in differents layers) using grasshopper and bake them in the same layers (w/ same colour) or new separated layers.
I tried with the good ole' Giulio script, the actual bake attributes but no success
I've seen previous discussions like http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/baking-groups-while-retai...
But I must be missing something. Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Mac

Hi Mac,
You may also be interested in Andrew Heumann's Human plugin. I've found it incredibly useful for this application as well as others (3D Text, Layer management, etc.).

Thanks for your anwsers, I tried with both but still no good result.
With the fabTool, i have the same as bake attributes
And with Human, I just dont understand the inputs. I even tried W/ block instances but still an input problem ^^
Mac,
I apologize for the delayed reply; it looks like I forgot to hit the "Follow" option.
Attached is a quick fix. I simplified your last script using different geometry (points) to help explain how Human works. I noticed one kink, which is why you'll find two similar definitions on the canvas. More about this below.
The first definition bakes geometry from a two-branched tree. I found that because each branch uses the same indices (0-9) for its items the [CreateAttributes] component would group them together when baked to Rhino even though they were assigned different layers a colors.
To troubleshoot this I tried baking geometry from one split branch where each list used different indices. This seemed to work.
I hope the explanation is clear. If not I'm happy to explain further with images, etc.
Best,
/SPM
