algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Array many objects onto a polysurface-- is this possible in Grasshopper?

ok, I have a problem that I need to solve quickly..

I have a polysurface and I need to array evenly hundreds small surfaces onto to create a grip effect.. is this easy to do in grasshopper?

Thank you

yes

To expand on Morteza's "Yes", there is a component called Orient which takes a geometry from one plane and orients it on another. Create you base geometry at the world origin in the XY Plane and then on the surface you want to array this object on, find the local planes at these points using a combination of divide surface/cull Pattern/Closet Point/Evaluate Surface. Results: you will get multiple planes to position you geometry.

Thanks Danny,

does this work for polysurfaces too? what you have described you can do as standard in rhino with flow alone surface or arraysurface but I have a polysurface, made up from many surfaces..

Thanks

Richard

You are supplying planes, provided these planes are where you want them then it doesn't matter if it looks like a single surface of a polysurface. Coming up with the logic to get the location of the planes that's the hard part.

You might try dividing your surfaces with a target cell size to get a uniform (approximate) look to the spacing of the bobbles.
