algorithmic modeling for Rhino
I am engaged in an independent study of human social interaction that is facilitated by an architectural form (robotic form).
I am relatively new to arduino and grasshopper, and I would like to know if anyone has any resources or knows what software or hardware to use to read sound pitch frequencies that can be input into arduino and firefly/grasshopper?
Any information would be great! thank you!

Hi Rhiannon,
Are you trying to read a sound input (wave frequency)? Or are you trying to output a tone? There's a great set of tools called Isopod that can read any sound input and create a frequency output (along with some other nice tools, like Fast Fourier Transform)... but I don't think they are freely available to the public. They were created by a professor at the GSD and I'm not sure if he has decided to release them or not. There aren't any Firefly tools that do exactly what you want, but if you have a piece of Arduino code that does this, then I'm sure we can get the data from the Arduino into Grasshopper via. Firefly (using the Generic Serial Read). I guess if you could explain a little more about exactly what you after (maybe a diagram or sketch) then I could give you a better answer.

Hi Andy,
I am fairly new to arduino and grasshopper, as well. I'm after a sound responsive vertical surface that moves with the sound frequencies produced from a central source (a piano) in an enclosed space. So we basically are trying to read a sound input and turn it into the surface's movement parameter.Should we use firefly to input sound?
Thank you
Welcome to
