algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello everyone,
First I thank for its magnificent gulio component GH Python.
In addition, this post comes from this discussion:
So thank you also a systemic.
And for his help, Charles De Ville d'Avray!
Here is my project:
An arch dam from a spiral of equations with polynomials of the second and third degrees.
The definition is broken down into five steps:
1.Definition the axis of the dam
2.Definition the cut in the key
3.Definitions thickness of the peak
4.Extraction parameters for facing upstream and downstream
5.Modélisation with native components of GH.
1.Mean Fiber

2.Crown cantilever

3.Widening (Crest)

4.Final Downstream face & upstream face

Hi Remy,
I understand that these datas are confidential.
For my job I only want to have a shape which looks "real". It was for me the opportunity to use GS to generate this kind of shape and to learn parametric software with a true case.
I really want to design a potbellied dam by adding an exaggerate lens effect to show the impressive civil work.
Here is my reflexion about arch dam shape:
1 - The dam center line at the crest level is given by a logarithmic spiral.
2 - We take a part of this spiral to define the dam (I thinks the choice is function of stresses, the site configuration etc...)
3 - From the top to the fundation dam, the thickness increase.
4 - From the left bank to the right bank, the width increase too.
If I well understand the basic theory of Arch dam, let me know! If yes, it will be enough for me to design a realistic model.
Cheers,
Yes that's pretty much it.
