Applying Islamic Pattern to Building Skin

Hi all,

I'm designing a tower for a class project, and I need to apply an Islamic geometric pattern to the surface of a building. I'd like the pattern to also very in line thickness depending on the position of a point (mimicking the sun's position, therefore closer = thicker).

I'd like to imitate the design for the Park51 Cultural Center

I have searched everywhere on how to do this and have come up empty. The best I've found is using a hexagonal pattern based on a predefined script, but I have the Islamic pattern in dwg format.
