algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Anyone heard of Gray-Scott reaction-diffusion algorithm?

I was just looking at this site:

The java simulation looks similar to what meta-balls are doing.
Not sure how to start in on this in GH, but the guy has the program available for free on his website, jasondorie.com so that can at least get you an image ready for vectorization.

The MilkDrop plugin for Winamp has some amazing reaction-diffusion filters. They're sort of hard to find amongst the hundreds of presets, but they're well worth it (the filters were written mostly by Ryan Geiss, same author as Milkdrop).

 

MilkDrop runs on a pixel-grid (well, sort of) so it's a discrete algorithm, not a geometric one.

The ToxicLibs in general have a lot of reference for this and a number of other computational methods. Their implementation is 2d, but it's possible to extend the algorithm to 3d, or you can map the 2d output to a 3d surface, which I believe is what the Nervous folks are doing.
