Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

here is a screen shot of the definition that I would like to export:

And here is a reduced version of what I get when I use the hi-res image export -- many of the long lengths of cable drop out:

Any body seen this?  Any ideas for a cause, work around, etc...?  I'd like to have this as a poster in an exhibition, just hoping to avoid having to fill the connections back in in illustrator...

Many thanks in advance.

I know what causes it, and there's no solution. I'll need to fix it but that will require a new release.

Thanks for replying David -- at least now I know to budget a little time for fix-up.

Hi Derek,

For the look of your screen shot your definition has a lot of repetition from Copy Pasting large chunks of components. Is this correct?

If so, can I be of assistance in reorganising the data structure to work on multi-branches.

hi danny,

thanks so much for the offer.  the reason there are these large repeating chunks is that each one defines a unique form for subtraction.  each row of solid color, 1 red, 1 orange, 3 gold, etc, defines one of these forms -- each contains, I don't know, 15ish variables for manually controlling it's geometry.  The design process involved individually tuning each of those variables, like some sort of "manual" parametrics.  Grasshopper was used not to automate the result, but to automate a set of very complex booleans -- but the specific result was very much "done by hand".  Since each of those chunks contains unique settings, and during the design process I needed open access to each of those settings, this is how the definition came out...

I can post it if you want to look at it, and I'd love to see suggestions of other ways to get where I went, but as a depiction of my process I have to stick with this one...

See Friend Request for email address.

I'm interested to see the definition size after you have finished it, can you post a screen shot of the size after, not concerned with the definitions function, just curious about the compression comparison.

I'm not saying I'll actually achieve anything :)

if anyone can its you.

you can see the result here:

but I can't post the definition until I get home...

thanks again,

d
