algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am trying to extrude a shape along faceted face edges and have both variable (sides) and fixed geometry. The image describes what I mean (much) more clearly.

I don't know if I've gone about my definition the right way to achieve this.

PS. Also when the bottom circles radius is set to 4 an error occurs with one of the top lines.

Many Thanks,

James

Here's a quick definition that creates the shape you seem to want. I don't know about the "Cut Hole" and extrude part or how each shape relates to the others. What is the finished product supposed to look like?

Thank you Damon,

Essentially there would be one shape (the one you created) and it would be applicable to all edges of a faceted surface. Each of the different angles of the surface would be matched by the top lines (above image - bottom right).

The finished product would be a triangulated mesh with every edge replaced by the extruded shape. As for the cut hole, I would use a *Edit* Solid difference, I just didn't know if it was easier to apply it at this stage.

I cant figure out is how to generate the plane on the end of a line, whist maintaining the bottom of the "shape" equal distance from each surface

Thanks again
