algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi everyone,
I am trying to create different floor plan layouts given the sizes of the spaces (represented as rectangles in pic 01) to be included.
Have you any idea how I could create a matrix with the desired adjacencies of the rectangles so I can control that their edges coincide?(see pic 02)

In general this is utterly impossible without coding (that appears "simple" but is not).
Just imagine 100++ spaces, their sizes/connections (derived from some classic space schedule Lists as is the norm in our trade) as an adjacency Matrix ... and real-life boundary limitations plus local (per space) topology restrictions (like furniture and the likes) plus building regulation restrictions plus load bearing restrictions plus ...
Unless this is a thesis and you want to spend A LOT of time ... well ... I would strongly suggest to do it "manually".
In the mean time: Notes on the synthesis of form (by the Messiah of all similar matters).
Bravo: I see a man walking the walk (the hilly part) ... but rationalism in contemporary Architecture is a no-no (look what's happening all over the world).
Maybe some Skype thingy is required here.
Provide your mail (ping a friend's request).

Hi there,
I wouldn't be so negative as peter, however in one point he is right, it is not as simple.
And well in my opinion there has been a lot of development since Christoph Alexander.....
Some Ideas and references:

4. The random approch / Infinit monkey theorem
This has its limits 100+ rooms will not realy work...
5. A more obscure math approch -> spectral Graph matching
