Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I need to do something that looks like that...

If I started with two catenaries, and join them together, how can I add resolution to the catenary grid...?

For example I need to have more resolution when it is more curved...

Any idea?

And not to forget, I need to create polygons on the surface.

Any help would be much appreciated...

Good news: I have exactly what you want (it works with any surf List (open/closed), any number of attractors (push/pull), it creates  planar trapezoid pieces (for fabrication) at any desired distance from the surface (shown: "flat") and makes auto-layouts (unroll) as well).

Bad news: it's made solely using C# meaning that if you are not familiar with the language ... it could be a nightmare to control it (or a joy ... he he).

Let's hope that a good Samaritan could provide a native components solution (and especially the unroll thingy) - if not ... be prepared for the Dark Side, he he

best

And here's what non "flat" deployment means (all pieces are planar) - using one attractor in "push" mode:

Peter's C# solution will teach you NOTHING about Grasshopper.

You might want to look at this recent thread that has a surface pattern very similar to what you want, nice code by David Rutten:

If the surface I've created has been triangulated with IsoTrim Command.. And I've ended up with triangles from which I need to create polygons,... How can I do that?
