Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Karamba Team,

I just want to ask if there is any native Karamba possibility (because I couldn't find something like this in the Karamba Tab) to extract certain values for a profile like the section area of the Cross Section Table?

In the moment I'm using the following work around:

If there is up to now no other solution to achieve this, it would be maybe a nice to have / wish component for the next Karamba release?

(Maybe the Component can work similar to the new Grasshopper native Cherry Picker Component?)

Best,

Martin.

you can do it with a script using functions of the discussion http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/karamba/forum/topics/model

.. besides that i also use the same workaround, if i dont need to do anything else with the Area..

Hello Robert,

thanks for the fast reply.

I will give it a try with the script, but for my teaching purposes, conncerning students who don't have any scripting experience, I think it is to much.

I just thought I missed maybe something in the Karamba Tab.

Wouldn't it be at least a good idea to add the most important values like the area of the cross section to the Disassemble Cross Section Component?

Best,

Martin.

The script component in the attached GH definition reads out the properties of arbitrary Karamba cross sections.

You have to point the component to where Karamba is installed: right-click on the component, select 'Manage Assemblies...' and select 'karamba.gha'. It is also necessary to unhook the 'Memory load *.GHA assemblies...'-option in the GH developer settings.

Best,

Clemens

Thank you very much Clemens.Best,

Martin.

I found this option to suit me best. And after the set up you can wrap that up in a neat little cluster and use that for every other occasion :)
