A solid baked dynamic preview for an unbaked geometry?

I am new to grasshopper.

I am making a lofted surface. How can I preview my generated geometry by grasshopper as shaded without baking? I mean, in order to make the red transparent default surface a solid beige one (rhino default colour), I have to press the bake button which makes the generated surface a static one. What can I do to make the surface a dynamically changing yet an opaque one that comes after doing the "bake" ?

use "Custom Preview" with a material/color that has an alpha value of 255. It won't look exactly like Rhino Shaded view but it will be close.

There is a really cool way using the Human plugin ;) I use this a lot. You basically bake dynamically and just put in a little switch to go back to the normal grasshopper display.

You can save the cluster as a user object and then you can use it all the time. Just make sure that "preview contents" is enabled on the cluster and that you have selected a shading mode in Rhino. It works with all shading modes, which is pretty neat.

So much fun using Grasshopper with baked preview and anaglyph stereo rendering in Rhino with red/blue glasses!

Uups, my bad, I didn't really test it with JUST the human plugin, normally I use Elefront and Human together. That way it works as expected, as Human will always bake a new copy, whereas Elefront can just replace it.

@archz2:

Install the Human Plugin and Elefront - both are excellent plugins. Then open the file attached and plug in your geometry :)

Awesome thank you, I installed both plugins and the baked preview component let me do exactly what I was looking to do.  I can use the rhino view settings as I modify in grasshopper. No baking needed to get some quick studies/animations that are legible.

Hi Armin,

I'm in the same situation of archz2.

I installed the two plugins, but when open your definition GH doesn't find Create/Modify Layers (human plugin)

What's wrong?

Hi Filippo.

You actually installed the Human UI plugin, not the Human plugin - watch out they are 2 different plugins that do totally different things.

Maybe Andrew Heumann (who was the first to reply here), can eventually name them something a little more different, as they perhaps sound like they belong together much more than is the actual case.

You can find the right plugin here: http://www.food4rhino.com/app/human

hi andrew,

its works fine ! the only problem is when I adjust the geometry/move a slider, the preview sunddenly goes brighter and I can't see clearly... Any solution ? thxx
