algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear all,

I don't know if this is only my problem, but I have encountered this problem in a few scripts.

I think it happened only after migrating to 0.8.0007. My scripts written on 0004 are breaking down on the offset component.

The problem is like this: I have a lot of flat panels that I have to stick on a building. I have divide the srf by Iso points and got a lot of polygon (4sides). Because they are non planar, I have projected them onto a local plane. The logic is always projecting the 4th corner to the plane defined by the other three corner. The problem comes when I want to offset them. I have supplied the planes and the curves correctly but half of the panels will return "Curve offset failed".

I spotted on thing is that, if I check the planarity of my polylines, some of them are not planar. There must be a problem here.

Refer to this thread for a previous discussion:

I'm reverting back to 0.8.0004 and hope things will work again.

Cheers
Victor

I tested the Polyline->Project to Plane in 0.8.0004, same case that some curves are considered no planar with a very small deviation (eg: 2.0497e-11) , I know that there is always a tolerance but how small the deviation should the system consider the True/False on planarity.

The offset command on 0.8.0004 worked perfectly, I don't know why.

Hi Victor, could you upload a picture that shows in what direction you want the offset. Or maybe upload your definition?
