Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

For some reason, I am experiencing a strange installation problem that started right when I installed 0.8.0004.

I have Rhino 4.0 and 5.0 (latest WIP) installed.  When I installed 0.8.0004 (replacing 0.8.0001), I started having problems.  Here is the scenario:

1) In Rhino 4.0, my GH comes up as 0.8.0004, but none of my add-ins appear in the toolbars (Kangaroo, Weaverbird, Karamba, Geco, etc).  Furthermore, and more strangely, it appears that the new features of "Version 4" are non-existent, and that the version running is actually 0.8.0001.

2) In Rhino 5.0, my GH comes up as 0.8.0001, but all of my plug-ins are available, and, more strangely, it appears that Version 4 features are available.  However, it continually prompts me to update my grasshopper.

Any ideas/solutions?

Thanks,

Marc

I had a similar issue.  The installer is putting the Grasshopper directory in the following location on a Win7 machine....

C:\Users\nmiller\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper

Not the usual Program Files Rhino Plug-in folder.  I had a similar confusing time verifying my versions.

(anyone know of a way to change this at the time of install?... it doesn't look like that option is provided.)

My guess is that a full uninstall/reinstall will solve the problem, but I'd rather not go through that if it's not going to solve the problem.  I might give it a shot in the next few days if we don't hear back from David/others... After I back up my user components and go find all my installation packages...

FYI - Nate and others...

I solved this problem in two steps:

1) Uninstall GH.  I uninstalled the add-ins as well but I now believe this is probably not necessary.

2) Reinstall 0.8.0004.  IMPORTANT: Right click and "Run as Administrator" in Win 7.  Otherwise GH will install to a User folder and Rhino 5 will have problems seeing it, particularly if you are upgrading from an older version.

From now on, I will be running all GH installer packages "As Administrator"...

Cheers,

Marc

Same/similar problem on XP

I upgraded to 0.8.004 from 0.8.003. everything worked fine in Rhino v4, but in the latest Rhino v5+v5 64bit the latest version of Kangaroo 0044 didn't show in Grasshopper, WeaverBird did!

I right clicked properties on the .gha files all all plugins and "unblocked" the files. Now the kangaroo tab appears and all the error messages are gone.

David.
