The Shadows ROOM / workshop by the androgynous New-Territories

Within the context of DESIGN by DATA Advanced Master by École des Ponts Paris Tech opening next week in Paris, we are honoured to announce one of the most prestigious events of our DESIGN by DATA OFF program : The Shadows ROOM / workshop by the androgynous New-Territories (with François Roche as his-her personal secretary) at FRAC Orleans.

During the workshop the students will work closely with the avatar and his collaborators (including F. Roche) and his collaborators to create the installation called “The shadows ROOM” that will be exhibited at Frac Orléans by November 9th.

“The shadows ROOM”is a structure in which morphology is defined by the process without being previously designed.

Working with 3 tons of polyester fibers, the working group will design a morphology process using robots and kinects with complex process of scanning position in order to make the structure emerge from the raw material.

The experience will engage both artistic and structural skills and students will be encouraged to acquire an integrated approach of geometry and shapes, blurring the traditional boundary between design and construction.

Students will be fully credited (name and surname) for their work.
